Sun in the Clouds

I painted this on a 16×20 stretched canvas. This was a challenging subject because I had to get a depth contrast in the clouds. The sun is making the background clouds light up, while the foreground clouds are in shadow. The tough part was to highlight the foreground clouds without making them blend in with the background clouds and thus losing the contrast.
